Bamboo shoots

Writer's picture: RachelleRachelle

There was once a Han Chinese who visited the Wu region. The locals served him some bamboo shoots. [The Han Chinese] asked what he was served and was told it was bamboo. When [he] returned home, [he] cooked his bamboo sleeping mat but could not cook it through. [He] then said to his wife: “Those sly Wu people, how could they lie to me like that!”
