絕頂天風吹鬢毛，
長天東去望中遙。
沙邊煙浪浮珠牡，
島上人家住翠鰲。
萬里閒情窮海嶽，
百年無事只漁樵。
連翩盡日歸來晚，
看到潮生月色高。
From the peak of the heavens wind blows the hair at [my] temples;
The long sky extends to the east, far away to [my] eyes.
On misty waves by the sands float pearly oysters;
In the houses on the islands live emerald turtles.
Across ten thousand miles [I shall] explore at leisure all the seas and mountains;
For a hundred years [I shall] engage in nothing but fishing and wood-cutting. [1]
Roaming onwards for a whole day [I] delayed [my] return,
Watching [the sea] until the tide rises, the moon shines high.

[1] Little is known about the poet or the context of this poem, so there are at least two ways of interpreting these two lines: as an expression of the poet’s wish while gazing at the sea (as in the translation above), or a statement of how he has lived his life.
