北方野豬，大者數百斤。最獷悍難獵，每以身揩松樹，取脂自潤，然後臥沙中，傅沙于膏。久之，其膚革堅厚如重甲，名帶甲野豬，雖勁弩不能入也。其牙尤堅利如戟，馬至則以牙梢之，馬足立傷，雖虎豹所不及也。
The big wild boar in the north can be as heavy as several hundred catties [1]. They are most ferocious and difficult to hunt. They often rub their bodies against pine trees to moisturise themselves with the sap and then lie on sand to coat their grease with it. Over time, their skin becomes thick and tough like heavy armour, making them so-called “armour-clad wild boars” that cannot be penetrated by the strongest crossbows. Their tusks are as strong and sharp as halberds. If a horse approaches, the boar will tip it over with its tusks and immediately injure the horse’s leg. Even tigers and leopards cannot compare to these wild boars.
