On the twelfth day of the eighth month, Yang Hui visited Mr. Wang at night. Mr. Wang cut out a moon from paper and put it up on the wall, filling the entire room with moonlight. Another man called Tang Zhousheng knew magical tricks. On the Mid-Autumn [Day, i.e. the fifteenth day of the eighth month], [he] said to a guest, “I can bring over the moon.” [He] took hundreds of chopsticks, bound them together and rode on [the bundle], saying, “I need this as a ladder to seize the moon.” After a short while [he] lifted his garment and took a miniature moon from his bosom, its pure light shining bright, with a crisp air that penetrates one’s bones.
